30 Crafts in 30 Days: Day 21

I’m a little bit behind on my posting/crafting. I was in Chicago this weekend to watch the Wolverines win, but unfortunately I didn’t see them win in person. Apparently every single Michigan fan in the world was trying to get tickets and scalpers took full advantage of that. Ugh.
Anyway, today I went over to my friend Olivia’s house and made Cheez-Its! I love Cheez-Its. According to some people, Cheez-It is my nickname. But that’s a terrible story for never. This recipe is so simple, and tastes so ridiculously like Cheez-Its. I adapted the recipe from Smitten Kitchen – we used white flour instead of whole wheat and we added a smidge of chili powder.
We started by blending the flour and the cheese. The recipe told us to use a food processor, but Olivia didn’t have one so we used a blender. It took a hot minute, but it worked!

Once the cheese and flour were blended into a powder with a large particle size, we added the butter and mixed it using a KitchenAid. I wish I had one sooo badly!

Once the mixture had reached a dough-like consistency, we rolled it out using wax paper and a bottle of chilled ice-wine. Note: you can use a rolling pin. It’s not imperative to use a chilled ice-wine bottle. Check out my gorgeous first-time manicure that I got this weekend.

Olivia had this awesome hippo-shaped cookie cutter that we used to make the shapes. We poked holes for  the eyes but those didn’t really turn out after baking. :(

I feel like this is the opposite of hungry hungry hippos.
