A Laborious Day

I went to Michigan for Labor Day weekend (and got to see Lady Gaga!)

I got to eat bhindi with Dov…

And not so long after, I realized a bug had smashed into the front bumper of my car. Ok, several bugs had smashed into the front bumper of my car…

215_1609

I went to Ann Arbor because a bunch of my college friends happened to be in town.

My little sister Meha and brother Prakit (we’re not really related but we are all brown)…

My career fair homies Xtina and Prakit (with a glass half full of sangria for fun)…

We look real fierce, yo…

Captain Morgan is more surprised that he is carrying me than I am…

215_1653

My friends got jealous and wanted in on the action (and so did the random girl on the right, though I think she was part of the Captain Morgan promotion process)(believe it or not, this is my second time meeting Cpt. Morgan)…

215_1657

We had to drop my brother off at his new apartment and I discovered this little piece of bro-bro trying to be crafty and make huge armhole tanktops (ew)…

Monster Ball Part II

The show opened with a dressed-up Lady Gaga (duh, when is she not dressed up?) prancing around with her friends waiting to go to the Monster Ball in the strange city of Detroit.

Sometimes, a Disco Stick is a necessary thing to have to get ahead in the world.

IMG_2998

A living room somewhere is begging for the redecoration of this set.

IMG_3052

The end of Boys, Boys, Boys. What a clear, non-blurry picture!

IMG_3223

Lady Gaga found a Detroit Unicorn. Or sparkling chandelier. I really liked the music during it.

So I was dancing during Telephone, and I continued to dance as I started videotaping. I was hoping that BeyoncĂ© would be there since the Jay-Z Eminem concert was the night before (Lady Gaga kept making references to it) but she wasn’t! I guess she doesn’t follow her hubby around.

This is Amanda with some 15-year-old girl wearing underwear and caution tape.

IMG_3246

When we were outside waiting to leave the parking lot, several Lady Gagas were outside in the parking lot dancing to Lady Gaga music.

Amanda and I are doing the Thriller claws. I’m not sure why everyone at the Lady Gaga concert insists on doing the Thriller claws.

IMG_3248

“You are so dying to dance!” These dancers started blocking my view.

They were blocking my view of the aforementioned guy…and some random girl who jumped on the car roof he was dancing on and started grinding up against him. Only at a Gaga concert?

IMG_3251

I have this theory about Lady Gaga. I think she has a secret normal life where she is a down-to-earth girl where she does not require the audience to clap so she doesn’t die Tinkerbellesquely. She probably walks around with dark brown hair and wears normal clothes and gets addressed by, “Stefani.”  Sort of like Hannah Montana. But that’s just a theory.

Monster Ball Part I

On Saturday, in the strange city of Detroit, I got lost on a subway and ended up at something called The Monster Ball. It was a musical theatrical performance starring someone you may have heard of…Lady Gaga.

Everyone at the concert seemed so … familiar.

215_1688

I’ve definitely seen that outfit somewhere before. During the show, the Lady was wearing a bra! (This girl definitely wasn’t!)

215_1699

Sometimes, Gaga reminds me so much of Madonna. These girls were cute. They asked for my blog but probably completely forgot about it after the concert.
   215_1693

These peepz were so cute that I had to take a picture with them. Aren’t the boy’s fishnets so ~presh~?
 215_1694

During every show, Lady Gaga calls an audience member’s cell phone (right before she gets a call from BeyoncĂ©…)(puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-puh product placement) and moves their seats up. These are the Little Monsters that collected our phone numbers for her to pick out of. They were wearing bat wings and the dude on the right reminds me eerily of Edward Cullen. That hair, those bat wings…

 215_1696

This dude had pink legwarmers, a miniskirt, and a blonde wig. And such a fierce expression on his face! I especially dig those flippy floppies.

215_1697

These boys…will show up later.

215_1698

And if you don’t want to hear anything…$2 will buy you something that completely negates $100 worth of tickets.

215_1691

What say you are, old chap? A FREE BITCH? Guys, free puppies!

Who says you can’t do anything at a Gaga concert?

Livin’ it up in the ROC Part II

This is not Niagara Falls.

215_1534

According to Prakit, every visitor to ROC needs to visit the colossal Wegman’s flagship (maybe) store.

215_1541

They had a vegetarian bar…

215_1542

And an Indian bar! With fresh Indians! I love me some fresh Indians. Especially if they’re like the fresh prince.

215_1543

Since Prakit is a boy, he’s very bad at decorating. So of course, pushy person that I am, I had to push some decor choices on him. I rearranged his living room furniture (really, who has 2 couches at 170°? I 90°ed that up.) and I helped him make some artwork for his dining area.

We started off by taping blank canvasses…

215_1548

Then painting them…

215_1552

And then decided to check out the nightlife in the ROC. 2 things differentiate ROC bars and CLE downtown bars.
1. ROC has cover charges to get into clubs.
2. ROC does not have skeezy guys creepin’ all over the girls.
3. ROC starts playing YMCA and then suddenly stops and the crowd gets angry.

215_1559

Then we got back from clubbing and Prakit excitedly started ripping off the tape.

215_1592

Doesn’t that look ~amazing~?!

215_1598

What a nice weekend in the ROC! We did a ton.

Livin’ it up in the ROC Part I

I went to New York last weekend. No, not the City, but a city 6 hours from it. Specifically, I went to Rochester, NY to visit my friend Prakit.

He answered the door looking like he’d been watching way too much VH1.

215_1488

He had paneer tikka masala waiting for me when I arrived, tired and hungry. And by waiting for me, I mean he didn’t start making it until I was all settled into the apartment.
 215_1487

On Saturday morning, before a jaunt to the countryside, we got crepes for brunch. This is the plate before. I decided not to include the picture of the plate after because it was…just an empty plate.

 215_1496

The jaunt to the countryside that I alluded to earlier (or just blatantly mentioned) was a winery right outside the ROC.

215_1497

These are some grape trees that I didn’t eat any grapes from, because it’s “frowned upon.” Hmm. I bet it was actually forbidden, because I doubt that a furrowed brow would deter me from eating some fresh grapes.

215_1501
The tiny winery had a bottling plant. It bottles 20 times a year. Saturday was not one of those days.

215_1509

Then the best part of a winery tour: the tasting! I got another wine glass to add to my already amazing collection of 4 Whole Foods glasses and 2 Olive Garden glasses.

215_1510

Then the nice winery people gave me a bunch of wine corks to do arts and crafts! Casa Larga! Go there!

215_1513

We then went to an extraordinary gallery called ArtisanWorks. It’s where a bunch of local artists display their artwork and maybe even try to sell it?

215_1517
Stay tuned for the rest of my ROC experience.
